Creation
Taking into account the Public-Private Partnership and in order to attend the objectives of the Free Processing Zone, the Benin Government has chosen a private management, ensuring more efficiency and dynamism. Hence, on September 30, 2004 the Free Processing Zone Board is created in accordance with the decree n°2003-400 of October 13, 2003 setting forth organisation and running of the FPZ in the Republic of Benin. Company with an authorized capital of CFA 1,200,000,000 , register in the Trade Register under the number RB Cotonou 2004 B 2103, the Free Processing Zone Board has a Board of Directors composed with twelve (12) members leaded by Mister Ataou SOUFIANO.
The Government’s participation is of 20%, the one of the Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry is 16.67% and the remaining 63.33% are hold by diverse private corporate bodies.
Mission
The Free Processing Zone Board is the body in charge, among other things, of: :
- looking for investors eligible to the Free Processing Zone regime ;
- ensuring an administrative assistance to the investors ;
- being the interface between the admitted investors and the Public Administration;
- ensuring the Free Processing Zone operation and promotion; and
- funds rising to finish the servicing and its missions in general.
It is the main interlocutor of the investors in order to accompany them in all their formalities and give them the necessary information for the study of their application file to the Free Processing Zone regime. It is also in charge of the control of the admitted investors’ activities.
